Understanding Dictionaries

Complete Guide to Managing and Using it Effectively

Updated over a week ago

✅ Getting Started

With Dictionaries, you no longer need to manually set preferences such as formality level or age. The system automatically understands the context and adjusts these settings for you, delivering more accurate and natural translations effortlessly.

📚 Using Dictionaries

Why use them?

Dictionaries help apply specific terms consistently across all translations—great for technical terms or client-specific words.

Key Features:

Dictionaries help you apply specific terms in your translations automatically—no need to edit them manually every time.

  • Use this when you have client-provided terms or technical words you want to stay the same.

  • You can use more than one dictionary in a translation.

  • Share dictionaries across workspaces.

  • A good setup:

  1. One general dictionary for topics like sports or science.

  2. One custom dictionary for client-specific terms or names.

  • You can add full phrases, not just single words.

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: The translation system won’t do a direct replacement of these dictionary terms in the translated text, since this might affect fluency or grammar. Instead, the translation system will base its translations on your provided words but still conjugate them based on the given context)

📁 Dictionary Format

  • Upload a CSV or XLSX file.

  • Each row = a word or phrase

  • Each column = a language.

Use ISO language codes like:

*EN_US – English (US)
*ES_ES – Spanish (Spain)

*HI_IN – Hindi (India)

*DE_DE – German (Germany)

📌 Please find the language abbreviations/codes in the below attached PDF.

Sample:

EN_US ES_ES HI_IN DE_DE
